Matt McKeithan, Psychological Assistant (PSB94024745)

My name is Matt McKeithan and I am a licensed Psychological Assistant (under the license and supervision of Dr. Timothy Yen) and a School Behaviorist. I currently reside in Dublin, CA with my loving wife and four children. I work in multiple school systems across the valley, where I train staff members on providing behavioral support to children with disabilities. I am also Veteran of the United States Navy, and after being injured in the military, I became a Federal Police Officer for nine years. I am currently in my last year of a Clinical Psychology doctoral program at CalSouthern University in Costa Mesa, CA.

I have a passion for working with children and adolescents, and love helping them understand and navigate their feelings in a way that leads to emotional growth. I also love working with the family dynamic, and enjoy helping parents overcome hurdles related to behavioral, identity, special needs, marital conflict, and other mental health concerns. I know from personal experience of what it's like to struggle with matters like divorce, custody battles, child behavioral issues, a special needs children, family identity concerns, spiritual struggles, and everything else that comes with raising children in a healthy household, while working in the Bay Area. I believe God has blessed me with a multitude of life experiences that have allowed me to use my gifts to connect with others in need.

My theoretical orientation is primarily focused on techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, and family systems theory. I believe mindfulness techniques are also beneficial in bringing awareness to ones self and environment; which can be helpful when used in conduction with other techniques. On a more personal note, I enjoy spending time playing with my children, dating my wife, meeting friends for a cup of coffee, practicing jiu-jitsu, surfing crisp waves, painting oil on canvas, listening to podcasts, making music, cooking, trying new restaurants, and diving into God’s timeless word.
