People and their challenges can be complicated. You may have difficulties focusing on tasks and following through with commitments despite considerable effort. Or you may have a child who is emotionally volatile and none of the conventional ways of parenting is helping you connect with your child. You may be wondering if you or your child has ADHD, Autism, a learning disability, or a mental health diagnosis. When the cause of the problem is not clear, psychological assessments can help clarify the diagnosis in order to accurately address the problem.
Pivot Counseling provides comprehensive research-based psychological tools to children, adolescents, and adults that highlight strengths and areas of growth. The results help us identify problems related to memory, attention, learning disabilities, and emotional/behavioral challenges. When someone experiences a multitude of symptoms, the testing process helps rule in or rule out possible causes.
The process typically takes place over several days and will include an initial intake interview, administration of testing instruments to gather information, and a feedback session. At the end of the evaluation process, you will also receive a written report that includes the findings of the testing and recommendations for the next steps. We have psychological assessments for preschool age (2-5), school age (6-17), and adults (18+) to assess for:
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) clarification
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) clarification
Intelligence (IQ) testing
Learning Difficulties/Academic Accommodations
Executive functioning
Emotional Difficulties
We also offer neuropsychological assessments to identify specific learning disabilities such as:
Dyslexia (challenges with reading, writing, and spelling)
Dyscalculia (challenges with arithmetical calculations)
Dysgraphia (challenges with writing abilities such as letter formation, legibility, letter spacing, fine motor coordination, grammar, etc.)
