Creating a Healthier Identity and Relationships.

Meet Dr. Ryan Yam

- In-Person (Walnut Creek & Dublin) & Telehealth -

I am here to provide the mental health support you need. As a Chinese American male who immigrated to the United States from Hong Kong during my adolescence, I have a deep understanding of the challenges that diverse youth and adults face in their personal growth and well-being journeys.

Life can be challenging at any age, but you don't have to face it alone. I am dedicated to offering you a therapy experience that fosters connection, comfort, and a sense of value, so you can trust our sessions. My approach is rooted in building strong emotional bonds and establishing harmony to create a therapeutic alliance that leads to positive, long-lasting, and meaningful changes in your life. I recognize that our cultural backgrounds influence many stresses, anxiety, and depression. I am eager to help you explore your struggles by delving into topics such as childhood experiences, ethnicity/race, immigration status, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity, as these factors may contribute to your current challenges and shape your self-perception and worldview.

As a father of three children, I understand the difficulties of communication and guiding them through their educational and career journeys. Nowadays, gadget addiction among children has become a serious concern. Effective communication with our children can significantly impact their mental health and academic achievements. Drawing from my professional background as a school psychologist, I can offer valuable support to you and your children in developing effective strategies to overcome challenges. Working with me, you can expect a professional and friendly approach that puts your needs first.
