How can I shift to an abundant mindset in this holiday season?

I attended a leadership seminar a few years back that has changed my worldview forever. During this seminar, we were learning about different personalities, how we show up in this world to others, communication, etc. We also learned about limiting belief systems that hold us back from what we want to create in our lives. One of the limiting belief systems that I discovered was my belief around there not being enough. In life, there always had to be a winner and a loser (not true by the way). Yet, we played an experiential game that would challenge this belief and introduce me to other possibilities. That’s when I learned about the abundant mindset.

The abundant mindset is simply knowing that I am more than enough and therefore everyone can enjoy the blessings in my life. It is a win-win mindset that more can be created and the blessings I have were meant to be a blessing to others. Not only that, but I am more than capable of creating more blessings! I didn’t have to be on the receiving end waiting for blessings to occur. Being a blessing allows me to focus on what I already have and use it to make people’s lives better. Especially during the holiday seasons, this mindset will help us reframe so many thoughts around giving and receiving. It will free us from the fear of lack and let us become a channel of compassion and hope.

You know the mindset shift has occurred when there is a willingness or even excitement to bless other people. This is not just with money but also with our time, kindness, and other resources. You are able to have a bigger picture about the purpose of your blessings and how you can invest it into other people’s lives. The things you have can serve an even greater purpose beyond just your enjoyment. The blessings you have are also for your enjoyment too! It is having that balanced mindset to enjoy what you have and finding ways to extend it to bless other people.

As you are in the final stretch before Christmas, calm down, breathe, relax, and enjoy the festivities. Take nothing for granted. The past is gone and the future is still being created. Live in the present as it is truly a gift. That is the secret to be fully alive. Focus on the blessings you do have (and they are many!) and seize the day. You are worthy and deserving to have and be more. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
